So as most of you know, i got a new GT and JD 2 weeks ago, the GT is a female and the JD is a male
they are young, about 3-4 inches long BUT i noticed that there were EGGS on a rock just yesterday!
Is it even possible that a JD and GT could crossbreed, and so young? i've noticed some of the eggs
turning white while others are clear what does that mean, are they fertilized? and if they do hatch, how do
i stop the babies being sucked into the filter?

It is unknown if it's possible or not, however previous pairings of GTs and CA cichlids have yielded nothing, so it's leaning towards not possible. But who knows.

White eggs = dead, clear eggs = unsure.

Many times a male and female cichlid of very distant relation would pair up (or even two of the same sex), and produce eggs (if a female is involved). However the eggs don't get fertilized, or the fertilization process goes wonky at a certain point, or whatever else, and viable fry never develops.

Just keep watching them.

If there are babies, suck them out and move them to another tank without filtration or with sponge filters.
