Yes, it's cycled.
29 Gallon
30 Gallon Tetra Whisper HOB
0 Ammonia
0 Nitrite
<10 Nitrate
79-80 F
"some" aquarium salt (I don't have a meter.)
3 Mollies (2 are juviniles)
1 Albino Danio (Yes, I should have 5, he's not aggressive at this time.)

Before I had my 29 gallon my female platinum lyretail molly was in my overcrowded 10 gallon with 2 other mollies (both of which have since died overnight on different nights) and several glofish. After the others died she was fine for a couple weeks then all of a sudden she got a severe spinal curvature. Her tail was literally pointed 90 degrees to the right of her body.

After a few days it went away and she seemed to be better but still skittish. A week or so later I was able to get her into a cycled 29 gallon and she seemed to be doing great. No curvature, just fine.

Then, she started getting more and more listless as she spent a good chunk of time laying on the bottom, only getting up when I came over. Then she completely relapsed. Two days ago her tail was completely pointed to the right again. She looks to be doing better with less of a curvature, but I'm under the impression this will happen again. She doesn't look to happy about her situation.

So I checked around at the LFS and they have no idea what it is. I've looked around online and see similar symptoms with Fish TB or possibly malnutrition/electrolytes. None of the other fish in the tank have any symptoms of anything wrong (and two of them have grown from fry in the same tank as her).

Does anybody have any experience with this type of thing? Thanks for your assistance.

Here's a pic. Her tail is/was stuck like that. (She wasn't particularly hiding in that corner either. It was just where I managed to get a good shot of her.)

A site I stumbled across. Says spine-curvature isn't an exact symptom of fish TB (as they may not develop a curved spine).

HOWEVER, I do know that fish TB can be spread to humans. If you think it's fish TB, your better off putting it down and buying a new molly for a few bucks, rather than paying hundreds for a doctors visit.

Good luck. I hope others have some input into this.

I've heard the euthanize route. Others say you can get away with treating it like human TB and dosing the tank over a 30 day period. Some say ZOMGWTFBBQ NUKE IT FROM ORBIT! IT'S THE ONLY WAY TO BE SURE!

I'll swing by the knowledgeable LFS and see what they have to say. Maybe it's just mineral deficiencies. But if I gotta put her down I gotta put her down.

Thanks.

I spoke with the LFS fish whisperer, Bob. He figures since all my fish have been in the tank with this one and this is the only one having problems it's more possibly genetics related. Since Platinum+short+lyretail are basically a triple whammy of recessive genes there's supposed to be a higher chance of weird ailments. None of the other symptoms for Fish TB show up either.

Whether it's TB or genetics she still ends up in the same graveyard. Poor Molly the molly.

I guess that makes room for more fish then? /bright side

Thanks all.
