I put my female in with him and had to take her out.The split fins came from her.The tail fin was the first part on the fish to change, it start getting lighter around the edges of the fin and then spreading more middle of the tail fin and now spreading to the body. When I put the larger female in with the male he changed colors, . more light or white patches.I thought they were wounds but after removing her his color came back.Is the fish a fader.what will he look like if he is ?

thats not a flowerhorn fading. thats the sign of the fins being damaged by the larger female. and the marking isnt fading, is stressed caused by the female being there. use melafix to help heal those fins and wounds up to avoid infection from happening. and you should let your male grow larger before putting him in with the larger female, other wise he could be killed. and are u trying to breed them? if so, its better to have a divider between the 2 fish so they get used to each other first, then remove it and watch them mate. They will normally bite lips to test each others but if any serious fighting or injuries shown, then divide them again and wait a few days before removing the divider. Not all male and female flowerhorns are right for each other. those fish are picky and will choose their mate.

heres a link of a fh fading http://forums.****************/lofiversion/index.php/t75014.html this is how it would look like if its fading or similar.

hope my 2 cents helped :]. good luck.

That what I thought but the white edges around the tail fin started awhile ago maybe just his color was kinda worried it maybe tail fin rot.
