Idk i could be wrong do you have decor with straight/sharp/jagged edges ?

Notice any aggression.

Between the heavy water changes and ridx most injuries dont last long. I do 1 50% wc during the week then a fin level on the weekends on all tanks....good provention

I wonder if it was a bite from another poly? I would start with clean water, up the water changes for a bit. If it does not clear I would treat with meds. I think many times people see things like that and say fungus and treat with those meds and nothing happens. In fact seems to get worse. I would lean more toward using a product like Seachen Kanaplex, basically Kanamycin. Seems to work great against a variety of things like that.

No decors in the tank, took them out last few days when the voltas came, this volta is the one with the split tail so its probably an old injurie before i recieved it, just didnt notice till yesterday.

It looks to be a potential to be a face on head bite. Which resulted fungus to grow on due to injury. Not sure but Salt and clean water should help. If it gets worse than fungus meds.

If I had to guess, I would think its bacterial but do think it can heal on its own; for true fungal infections increases in temperature are the easiest treatment, except for the most stubborn cases.
