I agree with kno4te kno4te looks like Firemouth scraped itself possibly on something in the aquarium. Does the scrape resemble cotton?

Yes the white part somewhat looks like cotton.

If it’s cotton like then agree with Tom. Cont with salt and water changes. Should go away.
