Is this glass safe?

I have someone selling two 72"x48"x8mm sheets of glass for 100$ I want to build a 72"x48"x18" tank. Will this glass be able to support it? I believe it is non tempered glass.

No, that is way too thin for a tank of that size. Double it and with proper bracing you will be a bit closer to what you need, assuming you mean 72" long, 48" wide and 18" tall

I've been looking at a bunch of those charts that show thickness dependant on height vs length and they all seem to say 6mm is good up to 72x18"

I've also done many thickness calculators and came back with 6mm

According to most aquarium glass calculators, 8mm should be fine for the size tank you plan on building.

my 84x34x24 is 10mm glass, the base is 10mm with a second bottom layer of 10mm sat inside the side panels.

Well i just got a call from the seller and it's actually 6mm.

That sucks.

I will attempt to build it 72x48x12, I'll only have bichirs and a few other fish in it so hopefully that'll be fine

At 72in long and 48in wide I wouldn't attempt even a 12in high tank in 6mm glass. Wit that kind of volume, 10mm glass would be my choice.
