filling a 125? do i need to worry about floor supports at all or will it be fine. what have you all done? Didn't know with a 125 because of the smaller on the end of the monster tanks.
When I set up my 150 gallon tank I installed 2 floor jacks in the basement with 6x6 timbers on top of the floor jacks and under the floor joists. I was'nt taking any chances. The tank weighes about 2000 lbs. All the items mentioned cost less than $50, I look at it as cheap insurance and peace of mind.
I would probably add support for any 6' tank that is 150 or larger. Some smaller tanks may need support depending on the footprint, In most cases, you just need to ensure that the weight is properly distributed across the floor joists.
well right now the tank is filled with the floor joists running with the tank. I went under my apartment which im on the first floor and i saw they have 2 by 12s for their floor joists. Im going to turn the tank next time i clean it so that the joists are not running parallel with the tank but so they are running into the tank. I think im going to take some bottlejacks and run them so there are some more support. just a little worried thats all.
I have a 200 gal and I placed concrete blocks and 4x4 beams to support all the beams under the tank as well as the main beam. Better to be safe in the face of uncertainty.
