I added a Texas cichlid to my 125 gallon. The current inhabitants are Tiger Oscar, Male Dempsey, 3 Firemouths, and some tiger barbs(numbers depend on how many Oscar ate last night). The oscar is the largest at around 7 inches with jack and texas both around 5 inches.

My Texas grew fast and was very aggressive. Killed my red terror. He was relentless. I would say the oscar would be a goner.

I think it could work since the oscar will grow a lot faster than the texas and dempsey but if the texas wants tio take out the oscar it will...You never know whta will happen util you try it....

Well so far the Texas has decided to hide in a hole under the rocks most of the time. The Oscar did some minor chasing of the newbie last night although not too bad. I am hoping with the Oscar already being established and bigger than the Texas that the O will just always be the boss but who knows once the Texas matures. I will just have to keep and eye on them and see.

Sounds like it is worth a shot anyways. Sounds like things are going well so far too. Hope it keeps up that way for ya. Good luck!

There is no good answer to your question. They are unpredictable. It might work or it might not. It is worth a try, if, and only if, you have a B plan. In the eventuality of things turning bad, what will you do (divider, spare tank, new home).

Good luck, it would make a nice community.
