Is just and Fx5 Good enough for a 180 gallon with a Florida gar, Pbass, Oscar, Clown knife, arowana?

I took off my emperor 400 cuz my buddies filter died and gave it to him. Wondering if that is just enough, or if I should put a air stone/bubble wall/ bubbler in the tank for airation in the tank because just having the fx5 pointed up worries me.

Good enough for a 180. But that stock might give u some broblems, not trying to troll but thats overstocked, if they are even close to full grown its probably not enough, how big are they?

id get another and ad 2-3 more fish

Get another filter. I run 2 fx5s on my 240 along with a large sponge and working on a sump. Imo 1 fx5 on that size tank with that stock isnt enough

*facepalm* How large of a filter should I get ? The fx5 claim to be good up to 400 gallons. Like would and emperor 280 be good ? Why is the fx5 not good enough ? I mean I have the spong, pre filter with fin filter pad, then bio max in bottom two trays. What is ONE canister filter that could do this size tank ?

I would add s second fx5 filled with bio.

The fx5 filled with media will only turn your tank over about 3x provided its at peak performance. I run a fx5 on my 135 along with a mag 350 & mag 250 hot.

The filter will work and even keep the water looking clean for a while, but a second will make the water alot cleaner and healthier, espesially with an overstocked tank too much filtration is never enough. Also the clown knife is gonna out grow the tank soon( i think 180's are 24 inches wide)....
