Nitrate 0-20, Nitrite 0, hardness, 75, Chlorine 0, Alkalinity between 80 and 120, ph 6.8-7.2, Ammonia is at 0-0.05.. The water is clear as day also.

It looks pretty good to me...though giving units for your hardness would make it easier, as it can be measured more than one way.

Basically, overall water hardness consists of general hardness (GH) and carbonate hardness (KH). It refers to the levels of dissolved minerals/elements in your water. What kind of hardness test did you use?

keep the ammonia down if you run into trouble use large water changes with ro water..... find out whats in your tap water b4 anything oi wish i had some softer tap to work with...

I agree with itzacraze - my tap water is EXTREMELY hard, it would be nice to have it softer...

Whether or not having soft water is good, however, depends on what species you are keeping or intend to keep. Some species do prefer hard water.

Lol no not necessarily, unfortunately. You just get used to the same old fish in the same old parameters after a while, and a change is good. Also, if you have your heart set on a fish that requires very soft water and you live in...well, Calgary, you too will find yourself yearning for softer tap water.

A lot of African cichlids actually prefer hard, alkaline water, so it's really easy to keep African Lake species here. Well...easy is always relative, but you know what I mean.
