So last night my polypterus delhezi ate 3 shrimp pellets! He is only about 3 inches long and the pellets are a 1/4 inch each. So I was wondering if this is normal and if he will be ok. He seems to be doing fine this morning.

It's fine always make sure pellet is small enough for the Del. to swallow.:) I personally would add very small pieces of tilapia to its diet.:)

Yeah he'll be fine. The only time you should worry about food with polys is when they are not eating.

The only thing i'm worry that my fish tried to swallow something that half of its own size :D without stroke to dead but its managed to get it down fine lol

You would be shocked to see how much food a poly can pack in if it feels so inclined. My congicus will eat an entire talapia filet if I let him.

my bichirs tend to eat a lot as well so i wouldn't worry too much. my 3-4" endli and sens will put down 3-5 hikari sinking carnivore pellets no problem and my big ones will eat infinite.
