My flowerhorn is a molted strain... im not sure if this is hexamita or his skin is turning red please help.
should i treat it(how and what should i do)? or let it be. he seems weak until you poke him and he swims diagonally with his humpy head sticking out of the water... he also ate since i got him 5 days ago (been feeding him some humpy head pellets)IMG_7409.JPG IMG_7410.JPG IMG_7411.JPG IMG_7412.JPG IMG_7410.JPG IMG_7411.JPG IMG_7412.JPG

Is the fish eating?

well not anymore i saw him floating diagonally with his hump. his head is all red now ithink it is hexamita or may another disease?

i added a tablet of metronidazole with 1/2 a cup of salt and a heater to help him fight the parasite he seems a little better. i will have to do a 50% water change everyday. and should i add methyline blue? or acetone?

here are more pictures after 24 hrs as i posted this thread. his head is very bloody.

If the fish was eating I was going to suggest NLS hexshild. Since it's not check out the stickie at the top of the page for treating hex.

i think he would eat now he reacted very quickly as i was feeding my aro's some mealworms but unfortunately hexshild is unavailable in my country... so i guess metronidazole will do. should i feed him then? or wait until he is fully treated?

Soak some pellets in metro and feed it.

Your FH is a fader, and I believe the red coloration is just part of the natural color of this fish. Having said that his stomach looks very skinny and concave, so he may be suffering from hex. If he will eat I would do as Aquanero suggested and feed metro soaked pellets, I would also presoak with some epsom salts to help purge his gut. If he won't eat you can always force feed a presoaked food/metro/epsom salt mush mix down his throat using a syringe and some small soft tubing. Do that twice a day for 3-5 days.

Good luck.
