Is this HITH?
Just noticed this today on my flowerhorn.
He is the only fish in his tank (75g). I am thinking he may have just rubbed his head against something and caused an abrasion, but am wondering if it could be HITH. Decorations are minimal but he could have bumped his head against the plumbing intake or output.
Water parameters:
Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrites: 0ppm
Nitrates: 10ppm
Temperature: 28C
pH: 7.2

With the water parameters you listed I would say no, but other members will chime in with their opinions.

If he had hith it would be lower down around his nostrils not so much on his kok. Is have never seen a case of hitch on the kok he just banged his head and should heal up in a few days. Beautiful fish you have there.

He surely banged into something. Looks like it's already starting to heal judging by the black marks around it.

My FH had something like that when he rammed into the driftwood, only it was much bigger and deeper.

Keep the water clean and it should heal up in no time. :)
