Is this just a spotted gar

It was bought as a spotted gar the store couldnt tell me anything else, but what confuses me is the dark stripe on its dorsal surface from nose to tail. As you can see it has hardly any spotting besides on the tail

It also has the trident shape on the head indicative of tropical gars, but the spotting on the back is a solid line

the trident mark isn't something that *defines* a tropical gar. based on the pics, its definitely one of these: spotted/florida/shortnose. i'll let the experts tell you more. how big is it? that info may also help.
 
Its hard to tell if its a shortnose or a spotted.. Mine looked like a shortnose when small and later looked like a spotted...

How big is it? It looks like if its 2" long
What is that under the Gar, I think thats what making it look so small to me
