I was in my local LFS today and they said it would be fine to house a Green Terror Tiger Oscar and a Jewel Cichlid in a 300L tank 5ft Long. all fish are 1-1.5 inch in size. what you think? buy tomorrow? only €15 for the 3.

It all depends on the individual fishes personality. But you should be fine

ps. if you start to get some aggression on your hand, just add some more fish to the mix and you won't have anymore aggression. Nothing serious anyway

ok great...because i was going to buy a firemouth too! same size..only €8 where i am...was tempted to buy a severum too.. they look so small in the tank its funny.

I think you are good to go. It usually works if fish are put together at small size.

In my opinion, a 300L (80 gallons) is too small for the oscar and GT for life, especially with other fish, so just know that at some point you will have to get a bigger tank if you want to keep all that stock. It should be fine for the next 6-10 months or so, as oscars can grow more than an inch a month in perfect conditions. Also, Id have at least 500GPH filtration going on that tank.

yeah i was told that alright...green terror will grow at least 10 inchs...so i'd say they'll be sold when they get too big..thanks for the replies...very helpfull.

Of course they told you that-they're in the market to sell fish. In an 80 g I'd put the Oscar and possibly the Firemouth. The problem with that though is an Oscar's going to get pushed around by pretty much any fish who's his size while he's a juvie. Grow the Oscar out to about 7" and then put a juvie-whatever in there and you'll have better luck.

The nice thing about the 5 foot length is that it gives you a bit more footprint than a standard 80 gallon. The oscar still has a very large bioload though. If I were you, I would do EITHER the Oscare OR the Green Terror. You could house whichever one you choose with a few smaller fish such as: Jewel, Convict, Firemouth, etc.

Hmm.. i wouldnt do that combo. in 80 gallons? No.

Oscar or GT. Not both. just IMO

I agree. The oscar would be ok by itself until fully grown but really gets too big for this tank when full size.
