Please see photo. Why my pleco has these round like texture in the back of the belly? Is this normal? Are these eggs? Is she a female? Or something is wrong? She eats well and I see no sign of sickness.
That little blob near the bottom of the belly is the tube. It looks like you have a female full of eggs. She may be egg bound? I could be wrong. If I am wrong re the eggs, then the fish looks to be constipated.
When the eggs are inside the pleco they are somewhat dehydrated and thus smaller than when you see them in a cave. As she lets the eggs out they immediately absorb water and get larger. This explains how so many eggs can fit inside a small fish.
Thank you!
I am wondering how could she have eggs if there was no male from the same species? Can. A pleco have eggs and fries without any male present in tank?
