i just picked up some ludwigia and there are what look like roots growing off of the steam half way up the plant. i dont think it is any type of algea caz its atached really hard to the plant and i was wondering if it is normal for the roots be grow like that. i know i have some brown algea but i think thats because earlier this week i switched my substrate and im still getting my fertz down. i have some pictures too.

and wyldfya if you look at this post i was just wondering were you got the hagen ho t5 for $60 if you got it in the store how much is it for general public? thanks

ok but there sprouting like half way up the steam not even close to the gravel do i just leave them and they will die off or what do you do with them?

I've always just left them, they don't really die off, but they make it a lot easier planting the cuttings from the plants (keeps them down, and allows them to establish a little faster). They also don't really detract from the look of the plant IMO.

I'd let them grow out. I believe that eventually (if they live)the roots reach the gravel. It makes for a really nice look. sort of like the mangroves in the keys, just fully submerged.

ok cool thanks i just wanted to be sure that it was normal and didnt mean that the actual roots were not getting enough nutrients or something

Perfectly normal. That is how they are rooted at the store, they come from my tank with roots. I have roots growing at the surface of my tank. The lights I got from the store.
