Is this normal?

one of my GTs is making a ditch in the sand and he only leaves to eat or scare the other fish away.

looks like there are eggs on that rock behind it, or is that just the pic? female may not let him near the eggs, when i had my small pair i had them in a smaller quarantine tank to medicate for something and she ended up laying eggs and then after he did his business she harassed him until he jumped claiming the entire tank even though they had been together since they were like 1.5-2in and weren't even near full grown yet. but yeah so just keep an eye out
