I just got my Bolivian Rams 2 days ago. Do you think they will be comfortable in here?

This is my first attempt at aquascaping a planted tank. I have silk and live plants in it although you can't see much of the live right now. If they grow some I will remove some of the silk. There is also some flat rocks in the back half of the tank. Oh yeah, the bright colored decor is my 7 year olds idea.

I was planning on Angels in there as well but would a Severum be ok in it? If not permanently then as a grow out. I have been seeing the different sevs on here and think they are beautiful fish. It is a 65 gal hex.

Thanks in advance for your opinions. If I need to fix the decor - tell me, I can take it.:)

The decor, and blue background does not look good with the plants in my opinion. I only see one real plant in there anyways, usually when people refer to "planted tanks" they do them up with a ton of real plants and no fake ones. If I were you I'd remove the substrate and colorful decor and do some pool filter sand, some natural rocks, driftwood, and change the background to black. Keep your plants and natural decor though. It would look much better if you want a "show tank" but if you think it looks alright now then don't go through the trouble, you're the one who has to look at it.

That tank is more than good for 2 rams but I would not mix severums or angels with them. Maybe some cories, and tetras but probably not any more cichlids.

Thanks for being honest. I am reading about lighting and not sure if it would get to the plants in the bottom for more light sensitive plants. Thanks again

plants suck in my experience. Especially with cichlids. I can't keep them alive let alone rooted into the ground. Not to mention the amount of electricity the expensive lights use. Dollar general fake plastic plants are the best lol.

I'd be worried about the coral, bolivans can be skittish and coral is very, very sharp. Not so worried about the buffering part of it, bolivans come from an area of more moderate hardness and alkaline pH than german rams do.

Am a little worried about the mollies though, they usually do better with some salt and bolivans do not like salt.

Alot of those fake plants look nice ... I always try for live but have a brown thumb, so I tend to stick to easy low light plants myself. Anubias and java fern are perfect for your tank, it would cost too much to set lighting up in a tall hex.

lol.The coral is fake too! The water is set for the bolivians. I have gradually removed the salt with water changes. The mollies were originally put in this tank to keep it cycled and my plan was to get cories, hatchets, rams, then angels and remove the molies once I had the cories and hatchets in there. But I went to my LFS on Thursday and he had my rams in stock for the first time in 6 months. He said he wouldn't be getting more....So I got them.
