I have a 125 gallon with a 4 inch oscar, a 4 inch chocolate cichlid, and a 6 inch Synodontis eupterus catfish. I have been told I could add up to 2 more large growing cichlids such as blue acara, severum, etc. as well as 2-3 dither fish like Silver dollars, tinfoil barbs, flag fish. What is your opinion? would this be overstocking? I do weekly water changes of at least 30% and I have two filters on the tank. I don't know if that makes much of a difference. I have had some minor chasing and nipping between the oscar and the chocolate - actually the chocolate seems to be the dominant one - but otherwise no problems so far.

You're info is good. Just don't add anything that is going to be crazy aggressive. I'd actually go with more like 6+ dithers to make more of a true school.

Once the Oscar puts on a little more size, he should take right over as far as dominance goes.

blue acaras dont get that large. i'd say they are more medium generally maxing at 6" ish. but they can be pretty aggro if given the chance to bully.
a sev and a acara would be a good choice adding a new dimension of colour to an already colourful tank. either the 2 med cichlids or 1 more large one. but mellow is the key as you have 2 pretty mellow cichlids already.
the silver dollars would be nice in the middle of all that. but like BelcherII says go with 6 dithers as they will show proper shoaling behaviour then and will do better in a larger group.
