okay so im turning my 30g tank into a planted tank...

awhile ago i asked if it was alrigth to have convicts in planted tank and allresponded yes so im sticking to that. wat i want to know is does my stock list sound alright for right know(for the size)

1-2in Green Terror(when 4-5in gonna be moved to 55g with oscar)
2...1in cons
1in bld parrot
3-4clown loaches
school of neons (for a lil color and as dithers)
pleco???????(i need to know which kind i heard that bushynoses are theonly for planted tanks?????)

does this sound okay?

Thank you for the help
George

Nope, sorry. You convicts, and probably your Green Terror as well, will kill the neon tetras. If you are getting a pleco, make sure to get a dwarf, because common plecos grow over two feet long.
Your convicts are my main concern. If you get a pair, they might breed, and everything else in the tank will be killed. I would probably make sure the convicts are the same gender; females are a bit less aggressive.
Anyway, if you put all those fish in a 30g, it will be too stuffed, especially for cichlids (they will stake out a territory). Happy fishkeeping!

GT - guess it would be okay for a short time
cons - tank size is fine for a pair, but they may tear out small plants in order to make a breeding site. not sure on their behavior with plants
BP - maybe as a grow-out but 1. you will need to move it to a larger tank or 2. a convict may pair up with the BP instead of the other convict
loaches - no way. tank is too small. even though they do grow quite slowly, they will get big, over 6 inches. plus they can be sensitive to ich, and you WILL need to qt them before putting them in a planted tank, as a salt/heat ich treatment could melt your plants
neons - would probably get eaten by the convicts eventually, sooner rather than later
pleco - not necessary, a bn would stay a fine size, but they need to eat more than just algae. also may eat convict eggs during the night when the parents are sleeping, don't know if that is okay with you or not.

there not a pair all the fish in the tank so far are females!!!!!!!!

bld i tried to vent and thought it was a female also

Oh. Well anyway, I would really keep the gt somewhere else; it will need a new tank, and a 30g just isn't enough for those fish.

If I was you, I'd breed a pair of convicts....not that you have to. Just that 30g is a great size for doing it.

neons---whole point of themare dithers........so they atract aggresiveness not other fish

That's true, but convicts and gt will get at eachother in such a small tank. But they will work as dithers if you are breeding a pair.

You will have the plants uprooted many times by the cichlids. I'll move this to planted section, where you should read the stickies.
