Ok, on the weekend I will be getting my new tank 6' x 2' x 2'. I will be putting in the stock from my other 2 tanks into this tank. I would like to know will I have more room to add anything else? Just for general info the tank will be lightly planted with low light plants and have driftwood in it. Substrate will be sand.

Current stock to go into the tank is.

6 x Clown loaches
1 x 14" Ghost knife
1 pair bristle nose cats
1 platinum angel
5 x corydoras bronchis splendins

I would like to add.

4 maybe 5 Geophagus sp.
12 - 15 Congo tetras
and maybe a couple of the more unusual type of catfish.

Is this to much? If so any suggestion on further stocking.

Cheers

I think that would be fine...just have some good filtration on it just to be on the safe side.

It will be fine, just note that some of these fish get big so long term some fish will have to be moved out.

Which fish are you referring too. As I would prefer to not have to remove fish later because the stocking was to much to start with. And also any suggestion on a preferable stocking list to add to the already existing stock would be appreciated.

Clown loaches can grow to a foot. And the Geophagus get a fairly decent size. It depends what you want, if you want to keep jsut a few large fish then rearrange ti that way. Or you can rearrange it to ahve just fewer big fish and keep alot of the smaller ones.

BGK might grow a little more, BN Plecos max out around 5/6 inches, IM unsure about the Angel, and Congo Tetras. Corydoras will stay small and you could add some more cats but depends which kind. Smal/medium cats etc.

Like I said, it just depends on how you want it planned. If you want more of a big community and more fish, then smaller/medium size fish will be good. But if you want some big guys, then you should rethink your options a little more.

The tank size is fine for the clown loaches. Scalare angels tend to reach no more than 6 inches in body diameter excluding the tail. The whole stock plan is fine. I'd rather avoid the geos. They share the bottom level with the loaches and if the geos spawn, they will pick on the loaches.

Ok. So Geos might be a problem. Do you have any suggestion of acceptable (non aggressive) sand sifters/earth eaters as I would like some of these to help keep the sand substrate clean, bearing in mind that Australia does have some restrictions on what we can import. Your help is much appreciated.

cheers

I was thinking of Malaysian trumpet snails but you have clown loaches. Maybe try getting a hundred MTS. They're for free anyway so even if the clown loaches dent the population, I doubt they'll eat everything completely. MTS burrow so they're always a plus.

I think you can go with geos, but go with the more placid species like Satanoperca sp. instead of the more popular altifrons etc.

Trust me-6 Loaches is going to keep the bottom spotless. Along with good mechanical filteration and you'd have a super clean bottom. I think you could even add more Loaches. It takes them sooooo long to grow, 10-15 yrs to get to 8-9".
