i just got 3 juvenile pimelodus pictus from my lfs and my ph is 7.6. im acclimating them as we speak, is this too high? if it is, should i use neutral regulator to bring the ph to 7.0?

any help is appreciated

They will be fine make sure you do a water acclimation with a drip from your tank with airhose tied in a knot .

20-30 mins then throw him in. Careful if you try using a net as they always get attached to the net and its harmful to the fish.

My pH is 7.8 and mine do fine, most of the more commonly available fish are very adaptable and its best to leave the pH alone rather than try to alter it.

thanks sand tiger :)

tell me if you think this was a good idea. i was worried because i really want these guys to do well, so to acclimate them even more slowly, i first did the drip method until the quarantine tank was full, which was mostly my lfs water, then i took out half and did the drip method again so that the change is less noticeable to them when they go in the tank.
what do you guys think?

I think your a cautious pet owner doing a good job . Just make sure they have an air stone in there and if you can net them out because I for one hate putting any LFS water in my tank. :) keep up the good work man. Also forgot to mention add a wee bit of stress coat if you have the good stuff. It does help with netting IMO

Ehhh not to much to worry about they can adapt they are more accepting of lower PH though lowering it woud be good but alot of times it not worth the trouble

I agree with tcarswell, always avoid using the pet store water. I always use a cup with hole and after i get them ready i just dip the cup, scoop them out, let it drain and then release. There are tons of horror stories that could have been avoided with this method.
