got an idea of doing 4 units of 60 gallon tank and doing a rack on them all together or two seperate double deck. can i use a single 400 gal capacity wet/dry filter for 4 tanks? cutting cost on electric and cut the whole octopus type wires that will be all around if i use individual filters for each.

I don't see why not, I've done it. I had 8 tanks though, so set up was a little different. But sure, go for it.

ya you can do it Ive seen it done with 10Gal tanks stacked 4 levels high 5 tanks across. you just gotta plumb it all an have a pump thatll handle it.

its going to be like 2 level and 2 rows (two top tank and two bottom ones). just to give you an idea that it's not a 4 level since it's too high
