Might sound like a stupid question.... But My 155 is drilled with two overflows on the back left and right. Now instead of running a sump am I able to just hook up two canister filters and run them threw the pipes that are pre-drilled into the tank?

you can, but unless you're going with a very small or poorly designed sump, it's not likely to be the better choice.
You could have 2 tank outlets to the sump and split the sump return line back to your tank.

you can do it that way, although I don't get why you would draw the blue turning to purple and the green turning to blue... it's just confusing. personally I'd have both drains combining as drawn, but then run 2 pumps, one to each return. that way if one pump fails, your filter is still running.
I would run a slightly larger pump on the farthest return and a smaller on the nearest - to even out the water flow. not that they have to be. if you did go with one pump and wanted similar output from both sides, you would need to try to even out the lengths of tubing. either adding to the shorter run of tubing or a check valve.
