Is this really a pair of discus?

Hey everyone

A guy I know wants to sell this pair of discus around(15cm), one is clearly bigger, and thicker, and they do stay together but they are the only discus in the tank so doesn't mean much.



So I want to know, is it really a male and a female?

Discus #1 - Male, Discus #2 - Female.
Once Discus mature, the male dorsal fin becomes pointed. The female dorsal fin remains more rounded.

By the way do they look healthy to you ? I've posted on my local facebook group and it's everyone saying they are garbage, infected, stunted... they look quite good looking to me, what do you think? here goes more photos

Sounds like you were getting advice from a group of "Discus Snobs" Lol.
The general shape of the body & fin quality look good to me.
There are plenty of very flashy color morphs available these days. Your potential Discus resemble the ones available in the 80's, a very standard look.
If you can get the Discus at a good price, go for it.

I have a contact that I can get me silver dollars fry for a very good price and they are really hard to get in my area.

The guy wants 13 SD, I asked his "couple"+ 65 bucks.

Price for a silver dollar is 15 to 10 a discus that size 200 bucks easy.

But the people there made me afraid of being scam....but still the fish look vivid in colors ?

It may be a pair. But is it a confirm pair that lay eggs before? Quality wise, in my eyes they are nothing special just ok quality typical discus. Quality discus have that round body. These one have pointy mouth. Eyes are a bit a big that's why some people think they are stunted. But as long as u think they are nice is all that matters. I wouldn't pay a lot for them
