Sorry to dissapoint you with no picture...

But i bought a very small cat fish today and im prety certain the guy told me it was an upside down cat fish, but the thing doesnt even swim upside down!
It's a normal cat fish!
Do they swim normal when they are young then flip over when they get older or what?

From what I know, upsidedown catfish only flip right side up, when they are eating.

which type is it? synodontis nigrivintis or whatever only gets "4 and my two are always upsidedown, but ive seen plenty of synodontis eupterus (featherfin) cats that swin right side up alot.

I have three species of synodontis and only my eupterus will swim upside down. My Notatus and Longirostris dont.

Upsidedown catfish is just a common name.

Try to get a picture or go to planetcatfish.com and look through the species to determine the one you have.

I've seen "Upsidedown" catfish that don't swim upsidedown all the time.

It's white with small black spots all over it.
Any ideas?

my syno eupterus looks just like a true upside down catfish, and does swim upside down occasionally. Especially when he is under a rock
