i've got a tank, used, 6mm glass, it's 24" tall and a quadrant of radius 20". no leaks. some minor chips and scratches.
is the glass thick enough for the height of the tank? does the shape of the tank make it stronger in some way? there are two strips of glass bracing at the top, along the two straight walls, 2" wide. i plan on growing coral in this one, with a 250watt MH above it, and a LOT of circulation in the tank. if that helps.
so, can i fill it up, or does it have to become a terrarium?

12 volt man is right. tanks up to 18" high usually have 10mm glass and 24" high usually have 12mm glass.
i wouldnt fill it, a good breeze might break it when its full. even the cheapest clearseal tanks that are 15" high have 8mm glass.
