Is this silicone safe?

I've seen posts on different types. Some contain anti-mold ingredients which are lethal and some are food-grade (which in this case means safe to use.) Good question.
 
read the label. if it say anything about mold or mildew resistance, don't use it.

I read the label on G.E.-1 which everyone says is safe to use...it says mildew resistant. Thus my confusion. I was under tbe impression that as long as it says 100% silicone that it was safe.

You have to use Window and Door, not kitchen and bath.
 
You MUST READ the label on the tube or packaging. There are those that are for wet environment (e.g. toilet) but NOT for aquarium re-sealing. You must get one that EXPLICITLY states that it can be used for aquarium re-sealing. Go to a local fish store, ask for it and read the label to confirm before making a purchase. When using, also follow the instructions closely.
