Darn auto correct. Can't find the edit title button. King is suppose to be "kind"

I figured that that was a typo and I'm not sure if you can edit the title without the help of a moderator
Anyhow, the tail looks like it was tattered and healed that way,is there something else in the tank that might be nipping at it?

Nope. Always been living solo. My aquarium supply guy suggested probably she (not sure on the gender) is nibbling on her own tail.

I doubt that aros are flexible enough to turn around and nip their own tails,I certainly have never heard of such behavior anyhow.

You can trim the tail with sharp scissors and it will grow back nice and even. You will need to sedate the fish to do this. Clove oil is a common and safe sedative. Do your research if you plan to try this...you'll want to be sure you do it correctly so you don't overdose your aro.

Beautiful Fish! and very good potential! How long you are having him, a new arrival?
And dont believe in what the LFS guys say.
It could be a minor fin rot, caused by (any one of) stress, poor water quality, transport.
It will go away on its own if you maintain water quality, and take care to remove the stress.
Dont do any medication, treatment or surgery - that is just my suggestion.
You can add a bit more aquarium salt and increase temp by 1 or 2 degrees for few days.
