It looks as though the stand is particle board, and doesn't look very strong, but I've seen stands like this before. Should I even consider this? I have a metal stand up and working just fine, but I like the look of wood (though this doesn't totally look like it), and for $25 I'm both intrigued and wary.

Whatcha think?

It all depends on how they took care of it. From the picture, it doesn't look like it's coming apart from getting wet. I have a particle board stand that's going on five years now and looks just about the same as it did when it was new. They don't handle water well (a few drops won't hurt it, but large spills will), but otherwise they're fine for use as a fish tank stand.

I have a couple of particle board stands and they work great for me, but then again like others said before me as long as you don't get them soaked. The longest lived one I had before I sold it was for a 29g and it was 10 years old and still looked almost new

Kind of what I expected in regards to the particle board not being strong once it gets wet. I'd rather have a solid wooden stand anyways, but wanted to do a little asking around

my particle board stand is about 17 years old and looks just fine. as long as your tank doesn't leak you shouldn't have any problem.
