I just got off the phone with a guy from a LFS, seemed very nice and willing to bring me in 2 motoros for 140$ each....making it almost cheaper than buying one online and having them shipped. His deal with ordering fish is, you pay in full before the fish comes, when it comes he'll let you see it eat, keep it fora while and if you don't like it, you don't take it. THeonly catch is that he has to have another oppurtunity to bring another one in for you to get your money back. Is this standard? Is the price good?

Sound pretty good. When you buy on the internet, you get what you get. It sounds like he is holding them to make sure they are healthy.

Sounds like he is double checking everything to make sure it doesn't go wrong as long as it is a reputable store and the guy the talked to goes to mexico, which I'm sure he wouldn't with what 280 bucks? I'd do it at least he seems to care about the well being of the fish when he sells it so it doesn't come back on him that he sells diseased fish.

Hell yeah thats a good deal!! I mean you want the fish right? Thats a dream deal.

No that is not the standard and while it seems like a smart move for him to cover his *** he is taking advantage of you and you should not give him any $$ unless he is offering you an unconditional refund if the rays are unacceptable.

What happens when you dont want them and he cant sell them or get new ones, are you out $280? If so find someone else...

If you do decide to go ahead with the transaction, get the terms of the deal in writing

I'm a law student so getting things in writing is my deal haha. He's a pretty big store in our area, mainly SW however is branching out, gets a delivery weekly and says his guy can bring em in whenever.

It says,
THeonly catch is that he has to have another oppurtunity to bring another one in for you to get your money back.
It sounds to me like he gets a second chance to bring in more fish for you.

so what happens when he brings in two more that are unacceptable, you get your money back? what if you decide you just dont want them anymore?

what if you decide you just dont want them anymore?

The POINT is that you DON'T decide you just don't want them anymore.
Many stores require you to pay part or all the cost for ordering in expensive fish. They will not necessarily be able to sell the fish to someone else, so it's up to you to pay for it and then take it home.

If the fish comes in in poor condition it's up to the store to get the supplier to send new ones since this is the suppliers screwup. It sounds like this fish store is willing to order in new fish once he has the chance so you will have another chance to pick it up.

If you just don't like them, well, that's really your problem. You don't have the option to say "Well, I didn't like them" when you order online either. The only time you have that option is when the fish is in poor condition or dead.

This is usually how it works when you special order exotic fish. Otherwise the store eats the cost when it turns out they can't sell it to someone else.

possible loopholes I see allready:
...And if they don't get the supplier to or bother with another shipment, then you just handed them 280 bucks for nothing... 'sounds like' and does is two different things.
Also, if you think both the first shipment and the reorder for you stunk and he doesn't unless you have it in writing its a he said/she said type of battle, and theres really nothing you can do about it since its a matter of opinion and who has to bite the bullet. Even if your right, your cash is in thier pocket allready and it's up to them to choose to keep it or keep you as potential future business.
I'm not saying I don't believe in the good of people, but you have to realize it's still an option, however I will go on to say not many stores offer this, it just comes down to do you trust thier honesty (which with even good people can sometimes be slighted with the presence of money.)
I'm not saying do it or don't do it, if I knew the guy well enough I probably would, but still I'm tying to show you the other possible outcomes in this situation.
