My leopard pleco ignores the algae wafers I put in the tank and goes straight for the hikari sinking wafers I put in for my black ghost knife. Being an algae eater I would think he would go for the algae wafers, but he never touches them....does that seem wierd to anyone else??

Smear the wafers with garlic and see if it tries to eat it. If this is the first time you tried algae wafers, the pleco needs more time before it becomes completely accustomed to the food.

If by leapard pleco you mean an L114, you gotta remember that they are omnivorous and need protein in their diet. Meaning prawns, chopped mussels, bloodworms, things of that nature. Veggies to balance their diet out.
If you aren't talking about an L114 then disreguard this message.:D

Garlic works well for picky eaters, I think it also is beneifcial for wounds or parasites (don't quote me on that though). My pleco eats everything my carnivores eat, worms, squid, ect. I also suppliment him with algae waffers and veggies

Mines is real funny with algae wafer just now too, seems to pay no attention to them, im giving him time though and a bit of variation, trial and error i guess.

My pacu grabs them up before they reach the ground so my pleco will never get to eat them. Will the pleco get a decent diet with out the wafers. I don't mean to jack the thread its just a similar subject.

Thats ok, thread was pretty much dead anyways :D

Try hand feeding or delivery to the fish. People have also used a small piece of PVC and target feed certain fish.
