OK, went and found a good deal on yet another tank.. 260gallon
When I got there, he said he had a few things that went with it..
Some lighting, skimmer and a few pumps.

I thought I was just getting a tank... but extras at no cost are even better. If anyone knows if its worth anything or what they cost, any info would be good..
all still needs a good cleaning, but you will get the point

I often see used metal halide fixtures on Craigslist meant for use in fish tanks. I see them go for at minimum $200 for a unit. I don't know any specifics on brands and such tho, or lighting specifics for that matter. I just know MH lights cost a lot more than typical tank lights. If it all works, you got a great deal on the extras.

yep, tested and they all work. Being I only paid $100 bucks total for the tank and all the extras, I think I got a deal..
Guy I bought it all from said he got it from a tattoo shop (so happens the tattoo shop I use,,lol) and he only paid 500 bucks for it all. But he never got the chance to set it up and he was getting divorced and needed it gone. So, it had just been sitting in his garage for a few month. I posted a add on craigslist looking for another large tank and he said he had this 260 he would sale me for 100 bucks. No stand, but nice glass tank and glass lid with all the extras.

:)

That is a great deal. I am jealous of that pump.

Those lights are typically used for growing corals.

ya, it was all set up as a saltwater tank, so I figured they were, I may see if my LFS who takes in stuff on trade will do something with them. Get some store credit or something....

Setup a saltwater tank!!! That stuff, brand new, would set you back $1000, guaranteed. Minimum. That Skimmer is a beast! Sweet deal man.

ya, well havnt gotten into really doing any saltwater tanks. My wife has been asking me to, but I think the first time, it sure wont be a 260gallon tank.. Prob do our extra 55 gal tank for that. I was thinking of posting the skimmer for sale. I know there is someone in my area looking for one, but not sure what its worth... just the skimmer, not sure I want to get rid of any of the pumps that came with the tank.

Those lights would also work good on a indoor garden. Herbs, lettuce, strawberries. I don't grow live plants in my tank other than java moss, so I don't know how well they would work on a planted tank. I would think pretty well.
