So...my 55 gallon's up and running, it's got a protein skimmer and filter sock in the sump, and tons of live rock in the DT. 1/4 of the tank is a 3-4 inch deep sandbed to be devoted to a future pair of Barbershop pole gobies(Stonogobiops nematodes) and their Alpheus randalli snapping shrimp, as well as a bed of Caulerpa prolifera for nutrient export. The rest of the tank has about 40 lbs of live rock, and is home to a pair of kupang damselfish (Chyrsiptera hemicyanea), and will be home to a future pair/trio of Banggai Cardinalfish. Now...
How stupid will I be if I add in a Fu Manchu Lionfish (Dendrochirus biocellatus)? Tiny fish are nice and all, but I really want something that needs whole foods, none of that shredded squid/fish/whatever. The FML gets to around 4", and shouldn't be a pain if I add it in when all the fish are much, much larger, correct? The damsels get to 3", and the Banggai's get to 4", and the gobies get to 2". If not a lionfish, what's a good mini-monster that doesn't need me to baby it with shredded stuff and is compatible with the other fish? I thought about a comet...but won't it eat everything else? Triggers/puffers are also out, as I really like my CUC.
