My cat knocked something over which hit my brand new never had a drop it in 40 gallon breeder. Is it safe to use as is, should I junk it, or am I able to fix it?

You can even see the little sob in the first two pictures :swear:

Anyone?

I’d definitely water test it but I had a tank with a chip like that and it was fine and never had a problem with it

Lol, I've had chips on all the sides and it was fine (it was a 20 gallon tank and I was younger so I really didn't know better), as I got older I realized how bad it was, but they were fine so I'm sure that one would be fine assuming no spider cracks are there.

Thanks for all the replies, I'll set it up in a little building we have outside for a week and see how it goes.

Maybe some of that resin, like the one found in Rain-X windshield repair, used for windshield cracks will help keep those cracked areas stay together. You would have to create a frame of some sort so that the resin stays in the area.

I actually had been thinking about potential solutions as I fell asleep. Do you think that I could get 2 pieces of glass or acrylic and use silicone to create a new edge over it?
I could use that Rain X windshield repair over the chipped area before I silicone the panels in place.

I don’t think that would work as it would make the bottom uneven, personally I think it will be fine and should really affect the integrity of the tank as long as there are no cracks
