The Marble or snow flake eel:
I was told that it also would depend on how they where raised, because the store that I go to the guy in the store told me his distributer has them both ways, brackish or fresh, he said that it depends on if they where captive breed and raised strickley in freshwater then they adapt to freshwater. Now I don't know how true this is. Because there are two of them in a tank with a ciclid in the store where I go get my fish from because I was looking into maybe getting one in my 100gal and they seem to be doing OK and look pertty good and they've been in there for over a week now. Please give me your opinion, thanks.

okay, actually they are supposed to be raised in salt water, but they can acclimate to brackish water. Brackish water is not the best environment for them, in order for them to meet their potential and be happy they need saltwater. You may be able to get them to live in freshwater, for a short while, but this will drastically shorten their lifespan.

The main problem with keeping them in fresh is getting them to eat. If your gonna try to do this make him feed them in front of you. I've tried many times with no success. If I'm not mistaken the reason these guys were ever even thought of as fresh water is because they migrate into fresh water to breed. They dont eat during this time. Having them in fresh from my understanding triggers this fasting period. I lost a couple attempting to keep them in fresh. The last one I had didn't eat in fresh, I put him in brackish for a bit then added him to a salt tank with other morays and he quickly got an aggressive appetite.
