I just got a baby black aro and he is in a 180 gallon tank. He is seperated from all other fish with a tank divider and the water flow in his area is minimal. Water parameters are also good. He has been in the tank for about a week now....eating well, no tattered fins or signs of disease, strong swimmer....but he does something that I am curious about. When he is not chasing down food he sometimes stays stationary, almost leaning, on the tank divider not swimming or anything. This worries me because the silver I used to own never stopped swimming as a baby. Is it a bad sign that my baby black isn't constantly on the move???

Of the four baby blacks I have right now two of them like to just hang, while the other two are almost always moving. I did not see this type behavior in the previous baby black I had.

thats interesting. Please let me know if you have any problems with the two that like to hang, and I will do the same if I have any issues with mine. Maybe its just normal behavior for some baby blacks.

My juvi jardini does this too everytime I turn on the light after eating, but he's back to his habit and swimming when I turn off the light. Try to turn off the light and tell me if your fish is still hanging.

Nope, perfectly normal. Especially if very young. He's just conserving energy. Juvenile Blacks seem to be more of an ambush predator than Silvers who as you said will swim and look for food.
