is this what a normal trimac at this size looks like?

this is my first trimac but he looks really weird like deformed or something. Are they suppose to look like this at 1.5"? he is really skinny and not beefy looking at all and his face just looks really odd. This is how i got him in the mail.
Sorry about the crappy cell phone pictures, i can see if i can get some better ones later.

Any input would be great, i think he looks really ugly and messed up.
What do you think?

Good possiblity that you have a low grade flowerhorn.Hard to tell with the size and pics

It has trimac characteristics, but many fish do at this size/day and age with all the hybridizing going on.

If you bought it from a reputable breeder/location then I'm sure it is a trimac.

ya i will get a better picture once i have my real camera with me. plus its been really hard to get a good picture because he got really skiddish, so did most of the fish in the tank, i am not sure what happened tho. I got it from ken. I in no way want to bash ken. The other fish i got from him are amazing, i plan to order from him again. he is a good man.

Its mainly the face that bothers me, like possible a throwback/deformed from breeding. He is really skinny, I have been feeding him NLS, blackworms, and brine shrimp, and one clean rosie. He is not putting any weight on or thickening up, i have had him since last tuesday.

It very well could be a Trimac but I don't think that's your question.That deformed look he has looks more like malnutrition and not any kind of problem with his body structure.You see that alot at crappy fish stores who dont feed their fish or when a fish just wont eat for a long time due to disease or being picked on.Just feed him some hardy foods and he'll beef up in no time...

ya i figured he/she is a true trimac. ya it might just be do to the fact that ken was on the trip so they didn't get feed as much. Thanks jmatt, you helped me a lot. I couldn't figure out if it was deformity or something else but you figured it out for me. I will just have to make him fat and happy. I just have to stop the 1" grammode from eating everything, that grammode from ken is a bigger pig than my oscars.

If It's from Ken davis than there is no doubt it is a trimac just skinny at the moment.Sure it will look fine when You fatten it up a bit.

Looks like a normal trimac at that size to me. Just needs some feeding and I bet it will lok perfectly normal. Is it eating?

Ya he is eating, he is starting to fatten up. He looked to be a little beat up but he is getting better now. I am hoping he looks better in a few weeks.
