Ok So I wake up this morning and I find my tank to look like this.... Now I know it only took within 6 hours for the tank to develope into a milky white color cause I went to bed at around 4am with the water being tea colored and when i woke up at 10am the tank looked like this.

The fish are ok they are playing and swimming. The temp is 29c treating for ich the clown loaches have.

I know its not the AC110 Ceramic Media's cause I took care of them with installing fine wool to filter out the powder stuff and the tanks water became clear after me doing that.

I did the water param. test and this is the following.

PH 7.4
AMM 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrates 0 (I did added double does of PRIME Last night so that explains why NO3 is 0 zip)

IS this normal for the tank to suddenly haze up like this? or is trouble coming????

Please help!

Thanks.

It could very well be

It can be hard to tell whats going to happen when your using meds and chemicals.

You can fix it with water changes once the meds have run there course, but it should clear up in time if it is only a Bacteria bloom.

All I did was primed the water with double dose Ive never had prime do this before... Very weird. Also I added a little citric acid to maintain a ph a very small amount to test the waters ph. Which I don't think it's citric acid either that did this. I already did a wc yesterday of 20% so I guess maybe I'll do a wc in a day or so.

I hope nothing happens to my fish it's been one hell of a leaning experience with this new 180g. A lot of figuring things out and learning done.

How long have the tank been running ?

What kind and how many fish do you have in there ?

Tank had been running for atleast 3+ weeks almost four weeks now.

The stock is:

11x black tetras
3x 4+inch clown loach
and I just added a 3inch flagtail

All fish seeem to be happy swimming and playful

Looks like "new tank syndrome" to me.

Sorry to bust your bubble but your tank is probably not cycled. When you say its been cycling for close to 4 weeks, do you mean like 15 days? On the 13th you said you were getting your 180 "tonight". It is only the 28th here in the States, maybe things are different in Canada(J/K). So, if you set it up that night your tank has not even been running for 3 weeks yet. Probably closer to 2 weeks.

I think you need to calm down, slow down, and let that tank cycle. Did you seed the tank with anything besides the garbage cycle products from the LFS (rip off IMO)? Like an established filter or gravel from an established tank? If not, your tank is probably not cycled. I think you should bring in a sample of water to your LFS for them to test. Your testing may be fualty.

This ^....

And Prime does not make Nitrate 0. It will still register if you have any and seeing as you have 0 it looks like the tank never cycled.

Prime® detoxifies nitrite and nitrate, allowing the biofilter to more efficiently remove them

Above was taken from the site.

What is weird is that during this whole time I see results of the ammonia spike then nitrite and then to the point where I got no amm or nitrite and only got 5ppm nitrates. I had the 11 tetras in the 180 and wasn't feeding much so nitrate was low I assumed due to that. I used one of my ac110 on the 180 to seed and then setter up the fluval 404. On the 180. I over stated the tanks set up time. It's been over 2 weeks not 4. Sry for the miscommunication everybody. One thing I did though was over fed last night neorealism I went back to bed so ithink that also has a lot to do with this sudden bloom. Asked the fish store today and they said to stop feeding for a while.

I guess there wasn't enough bacteria fully devloped to handle the over feeding and sudden excess bio load? I know it does take atleast 3 months to set up a stable fully established tank. But if there wasn't the bacteria 1 and 2 where would I get nitrates from? And where did all amm and nitrites go? I've got the API test kit so it's good. But yes Im gonna slow down right now and see what happens in the next few weeks before adding anymore to the tank.

after I started getting 0amm and nitrites from my 75g I used 1 of the established ac110 on the 180 took my marineland filter and swapped it to my 75g and slowed feeding on the 75g. yah I did buy the bacteria product from big ALS and use a lot of the 75g tank water. Then added goldfish and later took out goldies and added tetras. Then started getting ammonia spike then nitrite then to the point of only 5ppm nitrate. The bottle was orangy for teat on nitrates and thenthis morning it was bright yellow.

Happens on occasion in my 190 when I feed too much. My setup is well established. It goes away after 2 days and a good wc.
