Hi everyone just found this piece of wood and wondered if after I give it a good clean will be safe for my aquarium.

Do you know what type of tree it came from? If you don't I wouldn't risk it personally. Some have chemicals in the wood that can be bad for the fish.
If you know it is a safe species then I would soak it for a few weeks to leach the tannins out and then pour boiling water on it to sanitize it.
If it's bad then you should keep it for a house decoration or something, looks cool.

It looks like a soft wood to me so it will probably just rot.
You really need hardwood species like oak beech or hawthorn.
