im thinking about breeding guppies for feeders for my piranha, oscar, and jd.
im thinking about getting rid of all my fish in my 10g to do this, but my question is, how fast do they grow (fry) and breed? and do they eat the babies?

my sister had breeding ones and they had babies like every 2 weeks i think.. it was a long time ago, i was 6. but the mom always ate the babies.

its hard to find guppies that breed that much
but its not worth it
it takes more than a year for them to reach full size

take awhile to grow, and eat their young

unless you have like a HUGE aquarium absolutely filled with them where they can breed all the time without you even realising it then no, mine as well buy them

if you want to breed fish, get convicts, they breed often, care for the fry and grow fairly fast. but dont feed fish as the main food source.

agree go with cons ;)

It can be worth it, but you have to make a production out of it. And you may want to consider a different fish too. Check out the other recent threads on threads on this.

If you want them as feeders you need at least three 10g tanks w/dividers & breeding mops or plants, otherwise your only going to have lunch about twice a year :(.

3 10s? i didnt expect that..
what about breeding ram cichlids? how fast do the babies grow? i've had a breeding pair but they stopped because the female kept eating eggs and pissed the male off. (never had more than wigglers).

any other fish that can stay a 10g that care for young and the fry grow fast?
