i was looking into buying some sand for my tank, but my buddy offer to give me tahitian moonlight sand. which is white, but its very very fine like it gets stuck on the rays cause its so fine.

do you think this would cause a problem with the ray or is it okay to run it.

Yes
1 fine sand gets stuck on the rays body all time
2 depending on the filter u are using the sand will get I'n ur filtration. If u use a canister filter i strongly recommend not using fine sand it will get stuck I'n the impeller.rays stir up the top layer looking for food and it gets sucked up by the filters.
3 sand can cause built on the bottom layer that can cause disease maybe able keep it clean by regular vac"s if ur really set on sand.

i just took all my sand out i do like the look of it and the rays love it i was just getting fed up with my fx5's being full of sand.
