I hear alot of peeps saying how mean there fahakas are and they would rip a finger off if gaven the chance. how are ur fahakas? i stick my hand all the way down the tank and rearrange, pick out loose jave moss and even get pretty close to him and he either doesnt move or gets out of my way. i feel like trying to pet him one of these times. he was 7 inches when i got him and now he is 9 and shows no aggression towards his tankmates. exodon, odoe pike,6 african cichlids and 2 small bristlenose plecos. how are urs? curious to see if anyone have some nice ones like me.:)

I think it boils down to the individual fish. Thou ive heard of them going buck wild out of the blue for no reason, so be careful. My old fahaka did gr8 in my tank. He left everybody alone (aro, ray, etc.) execpt for my gar so some strange reason...

I have 2 fahakas together, with 4 Raphael catfishes...they swim side by side, only get nervous when eating and one of them pulls the food out of the otheres mouth...they're around 6 inches, maybe that is only because they 're so young..? but the 2 of them killed a couple of others...

mine is only agressive towards tankmates and kills jsut about anyhting he can get his teeth on haha. I hand feed mine, hes not aggressive toward people at all. very curious

Mine is about 5 inches or so and is absolutely evil :naughty: He attacks anything that hits the water although he has never came ofter me but any other fish or crustation is VERY short lived

my 10'' fahaka took a run at me for the first time today while i was doing a water change...i got my hand out just in time, then he went back to the other side of the tank and chilled out...He normally isnt like that i must have pissed him off....But he is crazy agressive with food...anything that goes in the tank becomes fahaka crap the next day.

I wouldn't get too relaxed around a Fahaka. I used to have one and it took a chunk out of my finger (luckily it got mostly fingernail) one time. I didn't put my hand in there again after that.
Mine basically ignored small fast fish like giant danios that he couldn't easily catch. He also did okay with convicts but would chase them once in a while. He did manage to eat a few.

Mine is about ten inches long. He has gone for my hand once so far. I came out of it bleeding. Now when I clean the tank I keep my eyes on him.

You can ask EvilMeanNastyFish about his fahaka. When I was over there I could definitely see why he's in a tank of his own. He has titanium heaters in there because the fahaka broke the other ones. He uses convicts too...they are too quick for the fahaka.

I got mine when it was about 2". It was beat down by the other Fahakas at the LFS, I think he said he had four in the same tank? I got a great deal on it so I took it home and put it in with my polypterus. All are at least 8". I was concerned they might eat him. The next day I woke up and all my polys fins were shredded and that beat down evil little dude was still chilling, with a smirk on his face.
He's at least doubled in size in a short time, all alone in a 29 for now. I hand feed him shrimp, but I pay very close attention to keep the shrimp between him and my hand!
