Is/was your Oscar...

A picky eater when he/she was little? My little one will only eat certain foods, bloodworms, and somethime hikari chichlid gold...but spits out everything else...Lemme know your experiences with this and your Oscar experiences in general.

no mine have alway eaten whatever i put in there face
dog food ...hot dogs....worms ...basicaly everything
but they do spit alot of hting out of theyre gills and stuff

My first one was. Stop feeding it the good stuff, when he gets hungry enough he will eat. The Hikari gold is fine.

My oscar always ate what ever I put in the tabk, he was never picky, he would almost jump out of the tank for food.

My little 3 inch tiger oscar is a glutten, eats small pellets like crazy, freeze dried bloodworms, tropical flake(not meant for him), Big Shrimp pellets (it amazes me that he can even get them in his mouth but he does and will eat like 4 in a row), Attacks algae wafers on the bottom trying to eat them, and frozen bloodworms...he will take the whole cube and take it to his spot in the top corner away from all the other fish and hold onto it until it thaws enough for him to suck the whole thing in.

Is your Oscar the dominant fish in the tank?

Mine just eats anything, even sinking spirulina pelets I feed my pleco

my old oscar at one point had become picky when i had fed him a lot of bugs and worms, he wouldn't eat his pellets as often so i just stopped feeding him bugs all together for a while until he would start eating his pellets whenever i put them in

That's what my first o did, he only ate worms for over a years.
Until suddenly he got an appetite for the Hikari pellets and eats those with great taste now.
I gave with some mealworms, and the oscars ate them, but prefer the pellets again...
Stange creature, who will demand a change in diet for time to time.

they are very strange creatures... but thats what makes them so unique and one of my all time favorites
