I visited a tank recently where the rays are going bonkers and rasping the bottom and walls with their mouth, putting some serious deep scratches all over. Is this common?:WHOA:

My Leo pup bangs rocks agianst the tank bottom, it was more noisy in the glass tank than the acrylic tank they are in now. I don't think mine are big enough yet to do any damage to the tank.

I assume you have an acrylic tank with sand? It this is true, I would assume the sand particles that get stuck under their skin scratches the acrylic as they move.

My old motoro would use her sensor under her lip to scratch the front of my old tank when she was hungry.

Yup my tanks are torn up bad

Always biting and swimming up the sides with small peices of gravel stuck to them. My tanks are only a few years old but look like they are 20 lol

I do have a glass tank but I notice my ray ALWAYS at the end of my tank (tiled tank) biting and trying to do damage it looks like lol

I just noticed they like biting at the front of my tank when there hungry...

My tank has bite marks on the sides. This is the main reason it is so hard to ship large rays. You can clip the stinger but you can't keep them from chewing a hole in the bottom of the bag. If I ship anything over 10" I use cardboard between bottom of double bags or pond liner.
