Just wondering if anyone keeps ray tanks that have plants and/or pieces of driftwood. Or do you just use sand? Do you have a BB tank?

Just wondering what the majority has.

I would love to see some set-ups as inspiration!

Especialy if anyone has a ray/aro combo.:D

I have a 120 with 1 Motoro Ray, 1 Aro, 1 Parron Shark, and 1 Lima. I have found that it is not very easy to aquascape a ray tank unless the tank is pretty big, because the rays have no where to swim. I have a couple of fake plants and a few small pices of fake wood in there just for the Lima to hide behind. The only logical thing I could come up with is a bigger tank!!!!:grinno: :grinno: :grinno: Which should hopefully be possible by the end of the summer!:grinno: I am really glad you started this thread, I would like to see some ray, aro tanks!

I have a 7" flower and a 12" black aro in my 125.

I have some sand on the bottom with a smallish peice of wood that takes up minimal groud and a couple of plants in the sand. I also have a few floating plants. With that said there is a ton of room for both fish in the tank.

I will get some pics soon

Awesome!

When I get my 300 later on I think I might put a large peice of drift wood in one corner and plant java fern on and around it...

I have also been considering different tankmates. I kind of whant two motors, a black arowana and a gar of some type. Im obsessed with gar now!

bits of wood and rocks are fine when the rays are small but when they get bigger they will just move everything around looking for food increasing the chance of smashing the tank

plus if you only have a 300g tank then you are going to need all the tank space you can get with adult rays

tank decore also gives you flat spots in water movement

I've seen people use floating pieces of driftwood. In my tank i just have a heap of driftwood pushed to the very back of the tank, the rays love it.
