issue with Fungus & nitrite or what is it?

recently one of my cichla has its tail stuck to gether by the middle is this fungus or what is it? how do i fix it all my others are fine.


oh and how do you decrease nitrite cause mines is unstable i think my test kit is wrong cause i checked it right after i did a WC today.

Water changes. Nitrite is a direct cause of an Amonia spike. The Nitrite will go to zero and then you will have an excess of Nitrate. Leave it alone if it's not too high, or do a large water change to dilute the amount left.

As for the fungus post a picture. It might just be excess slime coating from the water change spooking him and it might just be nothing at all.

dude i did a WC today 10min befor i testd my water and my want is bare bottom of i just suck the bioload with a gravel vack and a bit of the water. and hes had is tail fin stuck together for a while not right after the water change.

Hmmm, I think salt is supposed to decrease the effect of nitrite poisoning on fish, if you want to use salt...

Also is something holding the tail together that you can see or is it fin clamping?? If it is fin clamping it may be a water problem...

YEA YA FIN is clamping and hes very shy
