Ok I've been treating my gar for a couple months now and no progress...he has boils, bumps, warts, whatever you want to call them and they won't go away... I believe they are called lympho... Something any advice?
Thanks
Glenn
It sounds like lymphocystis. If so, there is nothing you can really do other than keep the water clean, raise the temps a bit, and add some salt. I believe it's a virus and it just takes a healthy low stress environment to help run it's course. I had a Florida/Spotted with it a while back and it took a few months to completely go away. It can also reoccur, but it's not likely too as long as the tank parameters are good.
as alluded to above, don't treat with anything major. just increase your frequency of water changes and volume of water changes...probably 50% every week or 2x a week. keep temp at about 82F and the fish will eventually recover on its own. don't use any other chemicals except perhaps 1 tbsp of salt per 20g of water--
--solomon
it is supposedly easily transferable, but i haven't seen a ton of evidence either way. with the pretty mild/generalized treatment for the whole tank the other fishes should be fine--
