Agree with Gourami Swami, that at this point it looks female, but gender differences don't become obvious when young.
I don't have photos of istlanum, but here is a closely related species, beanii.
First a male.

note the head steep profile, the same is found in istlanum.
Now a female beanii below, much less steep (similar to yours).

and below using another cichlid from northern Mexico with similar characteristics.
Genus Nosferatu

above a male, below a female. Same distinctions males with much steeper profiles and bulkier all round builds, compared to more streamlined females
